FRIDAY EVENING MASS HOMILY – FATHER JOSEPH Today, remember the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It's as if He asked, what can I do to show my love - shed my blood, give my body, give them my heart? Jesus showed St. Margaret Mary Alcoque His Heart. He revealed to her His great love for mankind. What hurts Him more than His passion is the indifference and ingratitude of the people. Jesus shed every drop of blood for us, but the indifference and ingratitude hurt more. Jesus complained to the Apostles about their lack of faith, their lack of trust. We must not trust in ourselves; we must trust in the Lord. Jesus wants us to persevere. Replace your self-love with Jesus' love. Be full of gratitude for Jesus' love. SATURDAY MORNING MASS HOMILY Today is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary which was instituted by Pope Pius V. The Apostles saw Jesus go up to Heaven and wondered what was next. The angels told them that Jesus would come back just as He went up. The first novena was prayed in the Upper Room. The Apostles and a total of 120 people, including the Blessed Mother, were waiting. Mary was there because she was at the cross, and Jesus gave Her to John. She is our spiritual mother. Mary appeared to Juan Diego at Guadalupe, Mexico, in December 1531, and left her image on his tilma. Eight million Aztec Indians were converted. On October 7, 1571, the Christians defeated the Turks at Lepanto because of the rosaries prayed. As a result of this victory, Pope Pius V instituted the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The vision of Fatima is concerned with the atheistic societies worldwide. The Rosary is a weapon. At Lourdes and Fatima, Our Lady said to pray the rosary every day. If Mary prays for us, what a difference it makes. What is the rosary? We do two things at a time when we pray the rosary. We think of all the big things that happened to Jesus and Mary, and we meditate on the mysteries of the rosary. We have to know three things: (1) the Mass, (2) Mary, and (3) the Pope. If when praying the rosary you are distracted, change the distraction into a means of returning to prayerful thoughts by thinking of things in Jesus' public life. We need to be people of prayer. Ask Mary to pray for us. Remember, She is the Mother of Jesus, and Her intercession is very powerful. SATURDAY AFTERNOON INSTRUCTION – FATHER WADE The Doctrine of Transubstantiation was declared by the Council of Nicene in 325, that the real presence of Christ exists in the Eucharist, body, blood, soul and divinity. If God can create the world from nothing, then surely, God through His Son Jesus Christ can create something from something. Thus transubstantiation is easy. As a Catholic, it is one thing to say that you believe in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, but are you convinced of this presence? HEALING SERVICE – FATHER WADE The Lord is always with us in the Blessed Sacrament and in Holy Orders until the end of time. What if all the people on earth were killed, the Church would still exist because the communion of saints still exists. The Church is made up of the triumphant in Heaven, the militant on earth (us), and the souls in Purgatory. We have intercession between the suffering in Purgatory. We have the communion of saints. With the Second Coming, the Eucharist will no longer exist because Christ will be present in His body. The Blessed Sacrament is His abiding presence with us here on earth as He will be in Heaven. SUNDAY MORNING MASS HOMILY - FATHER ANTHONY "Let the little children come to me - it is to these that the kingdom belongs." We must become like little children. We are called to be humble and simple children of the Father. The Holy Father recognizes that there is a lot of darkness ahead of us, and it is getting darker and darker. The Holy Father asks that we keep our eyes on our Holy Mother. We must follow Her lead. When Our Blessed Mother holds up a blue banner, we better start following. When we come in prayer, we want things to happen now. The Blessed Mother tries to teach us patience. We must have the faith of little children - the faith that would allow us to jump off the edge with the faith that God will catch us. Mary will lead us through the darkness of the world into the light and warmth of Jesus' love |
