Lake is 14 miles by 8; up to 150' deep; 165 square miles; 587' below sea level sweet water; underground springs; 22 species of fish (St. Augustine 153 kinds) reservoir for national water carriers.

Ministry of Jesus: most in north-west side of the lake. Mt 4:15 "heathen Galilee"

When people of Nazareth tried to kill Jesus, Lk 4:30, Jesus moved to Capernaum near sea of Galilee. Speech in synagogue - delivered possessed man, taught with authority, healed mother-in-law and all the sick. (See ministry in Capernaum.)
