My Dear Friends, One of the very difficult things that people have to cope with in life is loneliness. There are many kinds of loneliness. Some people feel alone because they have had no brothers or sisters; some feel very much alone because their brothers, sisters, or parents have been called back to the Lord. Some people feel very much alone because they have no friends or have difficulty making friends. They seem not to find anyone who really cares for them. There are also people who have had friends and lost them, thereby being very much alone. These people are reluctant to establish friendly relationships again for fear of being hurt again. Some people feel alone in a crowd even if there is laughter all around them. Many elderly people realize that as they grow older that all their friends and acquaintances seem to be dying and they feel quite alone. If you fall within any one of these groups of lonely people, you need never have to feel alone anymore. Jesus experienced loneliness and talked about it. Jesus was alone when the soldiers grabbed Him in the Garden of Gethsemane; in the praetorium when He was accused; alone when an attendant hit Him across the face; alone throughout all His passion. What did He think about this loneliness? He says, “Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me. I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” (Jn 16:32-33) The good news that I want to share with you is that you don’t have to be alone because God wants to be with you at all times. Where’s God? Is He in your life? How do you feel about God? People have different ideas about God; that He is in heaven, unreachable because they’ve never been there. They envision God as a Being out there somewhere beyond space. Some have the impression that God is in a church; that He may be with some people but not with them. How do you feel about God and how close are you to God? God wants to be with you. During the Last Supper discourses, Jesus says: “...whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” (Jn 14:23) “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you.” (Jn 14:16-18) The Father and Jesus do not promise to come for a small visit; they’re coming to stay. The Father is coming to stay; Jesus is coming to stay; the Holy Spirit is coming to stay. You will never have to feel alone anymore. You will never have to look for someone to be with you because The Blessed Trinity will always be with you. That is a tremendous invitation to each and everyone of us, to enter into a deep relationship with God. We must first of all discover His presence in us and His intention to stay with us. We must resolve to walk every moment of the day with God dwelling within us. That is the word and promise of Jesus. Faith and action on this word can change our lives. God is wherever He is not blocked out. Don’t block God out of your life! He wants to be there. If you have room in the inn of your heart for Him, then He wants to be there. There is nothing God wants more than to be with us. He made us, we are His. He wants to be with us, to live in us and to help us. He loves us so much that He wants to abide in us. He is in us even if we don’t really recognize Him; however, by not recognizing Him we fail to enter into a real relationship with Him and He will not be as active as He wants to be in our lives. Recognize God dwelling in you; love Him; do not block a relationship with Him. When Jesus says in John 14: 23 “We will come to him and make our dwelling in him” He uses the pronoun “we”. By doing so, He is proclaiming the Blessed Trinity, three persons in one God. The Father is going to come; Jesus is going to come; and the Holy Spirit is going to come. The son is not there alone in our hearts. If we love Jesus, His Father and the Holy Spirit are there also. Now, let’s project our thoughts even further as we try to understand another faith dimension in our lives, that of the communion of saints. If you love Jesus, Jesus is in you and He is not alone. He is with the Father and He is with the Holy Spirit. Now, if God is with you and the friends of God (the saints) are with Him, then the friends of God (the saints) are with you also. God does not leave all of His friends behind. When God comes in to live in your heart and the Trinity is inside of you then you must know that the saints and you form an additional relationship. [The whole Church includes besides us, (the church militant) the saints (the church triumphant) and the souls in Purgatory (the church suffering).] We are all together with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus doesn’t leave His mother in heaven apart from us. I want you to know that the Blessed Mother, Saint Joseph, all the friends of God, the angels and saints are with us in a loving relationship in union with God. Consider the following scripture passage. “Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, He (Jesus) said in reply, ‘The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, “Lord, here it is,” or “There it is.” For behold the kingdom of God is among you.’ (Lk 17:20-21) The kingdom of God is within you! The kingdom of God is among you! Reflect seriously and pray over these words, asking the Lord to teach you. You will then be given a tremendous grace of discerning the presence of God. My dear friends, I want you to know the Word of God; that God wants to be with you. I want you to understand the word of Jesus, “We are coming to stay; if you love us, we are coming to stay.” You will then never have to feel alone. Just walk with God every moment of the day. This is the best news that you will ever learn. Think about this Word and ask the Lord to teach you and to help you to understand what His Words mean. Your outlook on life will change and you will begin a new, deep personal relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I am making a special appeal to you who may feel lonesome or ignored; who may feel that nobody cares. Try to understand the love and the caring of our God. Our God is a God of love who really has done so much for us, and is waiting for us to say “yes”. Our God will not take away our free will; we must be open to receive Him. The pagans spoke wisely when they said, “No one has a God as close to them as the Christians.” Let’s pray over that. Heavenly Father, help us to understand the kind of Father you are, the kind of God that you are. Help us to understand that the Holy Spirit wants to be with us always. God bless you all. |
