Shrine of
the Blessed Sacrament
1st Saturday Devotions
The Shrine of the Blessed
Sacrament
Hanceville, Alabama
Each 1ST SATURDAY
we encourage
individuals to travel to the SHRINE OF THE MOST BLESSED
SACRAMENT
in Hanceville, Alabama in conjunction with Our Lady's request of 1st Saturday
Devotions.
If that is not possible, we encourage
you to respond to Our Lady's request at Fatima, Portugal 1917 to honor
her Immaculate Heart and to make reparation to it for the sins of
mankind.
The story of the shrine is quite amazing. "In 1995, Mother Angelica traveled
to
Columbia to raise funds and seek assistance for EWTN’s Spanish
programs. She was invited by Salesian Father Juan Pablo Rodriguez to
attend Mass at the Sanctuary of the Divine Infant Jesus in Bogotá. It
was here where Mother Angelica heard the words that gave her a new
mission: to build a shrine honoring the True Presence of Our Lord in
the Blessed Sacrament.
This project would culminate in a
beautiful church attached
to a monastery for her growing community of Poor Clares of Perpetual
Adoration, a community dedicated to a life of prayer, penance, and
adoration of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. As she visited the
small chapel dedicated to the Divine Child, she heard the statue speak
in the voice of a young boy. “Build me a Temple,” the voice said, “and
I will help those who help you.” Mother Angelica heeded those words as
she had responded to the challenging commands of the Lord so often
before. She shared the story with her community after returning to
Alabama, and she and the nuns began immediately to search for land on
which to build. Months of searching procured a beautiful space, and
Divine Providence provided five very generous families who offered to
completely fund this ambitious project. Thus, without taking any funds
from EWTN and without having to raise any funds on her own, Mother
Angelica was able to bring to fruition her desire, born of a request
from the Divine Child, to build a shrine where people of all faiths
could adore Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. "
We know and
understand it is not possible for most people to journey there each 1st
Saturday, but we hope you will come there and visit this most
beautiful shrine. Come and be refreshed and renewed. We enter into a
wondrous
time in the history of humanity and the Church. Let us gather together
at the Shrine of our Eucharistic Lord and together cry out from the
heart with one voice, Come! Lord Jesus.
From the moment one's
feet
hit the ground, one can feel the presence of the Lord. You know you are
on
holy ground. The Shrine of the Most
Blessed Sacrament reflects our Lord's
presence, with the
Eucharist exposed and adored
in a
monstrance
greater than 7 feet, from morning until evening, .
All there know that Jesus is present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity,
and
one can show Him the reverence that He deserves. He is present and
awaits the
faithful
every day. It will be an awesome experience!
"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy
laden, and
I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
